Theoretical calculations have been made to get relations between parameters of digitally filtered Gaussian peaks and original peaks parameters (centroid, width, area), The relations form a basis for an algorithm of automatic spectra analysis. Application of the digital filtering technique specifically to the analysis of energy-dispersive X-ray fluorescence (EDXRF) spectra is discussed.
