Radiation hazard to radon and its daughter products constitutes the greates share in the total radiation
dose received by population. It is also an important factor of occupational hazard of big groups of
mining industry workers. European organizations such as NEA (OECD) and CEC created a special
international intercomparison program for methods and equipment. Poland, represented by Institute
of Occupational Medicine in Łódż has been taking part in this program since 1983 in the field of
passive dosimeter comparison. The paper presents the results of intercomparisons indicating good
agreement of exposure assessment between Polish meters and reference ones. Intercomparisons have been
carried out in National Radiological Protection Board, UK - chosen for European region and regarded
as reference laboratory.
