Thin films of PETP (Hostaphan RN), PC Makrofol N, PI Kapton H, original and heavy ions irradiated,
were investigated by DSC method in nitrogen flow. Differences were observed between DSC traces of
initial and irradiated foils. In the case of PETP premelting behaviour was recorded during heating
of irradiated samples. The effect is related to the appearence of a disordered phase. The influence
of irradiation conditions on the results was examined. In the case of PC and PI a decrease in thermal
resistivity was found. The differences in DSC traces of unirradiated and irradiated foils are
brought about by changes in film ordering. The decrease in ordering was confirmed for PETP by WAXS
method and density data. The DSC method proved to be very suitable for this kind of study.
