A general outline and basic design features for proposed new solution of medical accelerator for cancer treatment are presented. The principal motivation of this proposal is the conviction that in front of current and future needs of additional equipment for radiotherapy centres in Poland, it is worthwhile to undertake a new project matched to contemporaneous requirements of treatment procedures.
The main goals of advanced design are: extention of energy range of accelerated electrons to 18÷20 MeV, two energies of X-ray photon beams, new type of beam profiler, efficient computer supported control system, and as option portal imaging system for quality assurance.
