According to the Order of Director of INCT from 03.01.2005 Environment-Friendly Nuclear Technology Centre of Excellence Eko-Nukleon was established.
Earlier the Centre gained the acceptance of the Ministry of Science and Information Society Technologies that was expressed by granting the funds for subsidization of coordination and organisation activities.
The Centre develops new research methods for analysing the natural environment. The methods are based on nuclear technology, specific for the field of activity of INCT from which the Centre originated. There are specialised, non-invasive methods that provide abundant information that cannot be obtained using other research techniques, e.g. based on tracer methods, isotope ratio mass spectrometry or neutron activation analysis. The Centre designs and builds measurement devices using isotope source or X-ray sources, which ensures high sensitivity of measurements, and are used for environmental measurements. On the basis of the results of research carried in the Centre, both on laboratory and pilot scale, the new technologies are elaborated. Some of them found their industrial implementation.
